About Our Farm

What we do

Pig Tails Farm is owned by Nickie and Phil Haines (women and veteran). We were founded in 2016 due to our boys being in 4-H and then FFA, as their interests grew so did ours. What started as breeding showing pigs soon turned into breeding and selling non-gmo pork. In 2024, we moved to a 20 acre farm in Big Pool, Maryland after outgrowing our 3/4 acre farm in West Virginia. We continue to breed competitive show pigs but have been able to grow the meat pigs side of our farm with the added land. We pride ourselves in humanely raising our sows and piglets on pasture and open farrowing practices. Our meat piglets are fed non-gmo feed from our local farmers at Ernst Grain and Livestock and we process our half and whole hogs locally at Mountain Trail Butcher. We are both very active and honorary members of Spring Mills FFA Alumni Association which was our boys FFA chapter and hope to become more involved in Maryland 4-H and FFA chapters.
